The defending champions continue to lead the way, with the Yorkton Terriers and Flin Flon Bombers nipping at the heels in final rankings of 2024.

The SportsCage SJHL Power Rankings are created by having contributors independently rank each team from No. 1 to No. 12, then averaging out the scores.

1. Melfort Mustangs (26-4-0)  –

Despite getting tested by their rivals, the Mustangs will head into the break riding a 15 game win streak and the cream of the crop of the SJHL. There aren’t many holes up and down this roster

Next Up: Jan 3rd vs. Melville / Jan 4th @ Melville

Top Scorer: Reilly Kotai – 42 points in 29 games

2. Yorkton Terriers (18-9-1)  –

The Terriers finished off their first half with a couple of HUGE wins over Weyburn to take over the Viterra division lead. Depth scoring, and solid goaltending was big, and will need to continue in a heavy home half of the schedule in the second half.

Next Up: Dec. 30th vs. Melville / Jan. 1st @ Melville

Top Scorer: Jaron Desnoyers – 34 points in 27 games

3. Flin Flon Bombers (19-9-2)  –
Offence has come easy for the Bombers who ride a three game win, and 14 game point streak into the break after a weekend sweep over La Ronge. This club silenced some critics after a slow start to their campaign

Up next: Jan. 4th @ La Ronge / Jan. 5th vs. La Ronge

Top Scorer: Ryder Ringor – 32 points in 30 games

4. Weyburn Red Wings (17-10-2) +1

A triumphed & successful return back to Crescent Point Place, was sandwiched by a couple divisional losses to Yorkton.  After their start to their season, they’ve got to be pretty happy with where they sit heading into 2025.

Up Next: Jan. 4th @ Estevan / Jan. 5th @ Yorkton

Top Scorer: 36 points in 27 games

5. Battlefords North Stars (15-10-3-2)

Getting swept by Kindersley over the weekend will give the North Stars a bitter taste of a pretty solid first half for a team that went through an early season coaching change. A battle atop of the Nutrien division should be a fun one to watch in the 2nd half.

Up next:: Jan. 4th vs. Nipawin  / Jan. 5th @ Nipawin

Top Scorer: Nikita Ivashchenko – 31 points in 30 games

6.  Melville Millionaires (15-13-2-1) +1
It was looking pretty bleak for the Moneymen on a five game slide, but they rattled off two big wins to head into the break on a high note. A meat and potatoes game, and good goaltending will be needed for the Mils heading into the New Year.

This Week: Dec. 30th @ Yorkton  / Jan. 1st vs. Yorkton

Top Scorer: Jadon Iyogun – 25 points in 27 games

7.  Kindersley Klippers (16-15-1) +1

The Klippers are another team that earned a couple of much needed wins to cap off an up and down first half.  A road-heavy 2025 schedule will test a Klippers team that is still looking for consistency.  Is goaltender Brett O’Halloran a leading candidate for Rookie of the Year?

Up Next: Jan. 4th @ Humboldt

Top Scorer: Zak Anderson – 30 points in 32 games

8. Humboldt Broncos  (15-15-1) -2

The break was something that couldn’t come quick enough for a struggling Broncos team. They are a much better team than their 2 and 6 record in December shows, but we will see in the second half.

Up Next: Jan. 4th vs. Kindersley

Top Scorer: Jacob Strizzi- 37 points in 27 games

9. La Ronge Ice Wolves (14-17-1) –

The Ice Wolves are heading into the break on the outside looking in of a playoff spot after two wins in seven games in 2024’s final month.  A tough stretch begins their second half to show what they are made of, with nine of their first 10 games in the New Year on the road.

Up Next: Jan 4th vs. Flin Flon / Jan. 5th @ Flin Flon

Top Scorer:  Mason Bueckert – 30 points in 32 games

10.  Estevan Bruins (11-13-3-1) –

A Split with the Broncos has the Bruins sitting five points out of a playoff spot. If strong goaltending from Benny Polhill continues, wins will come more frequently for a team that has a busy second half.  How impressive has Kent Moors been?

Up Next: Jan. 3rd @ Yorkton / Jan. 4th vs. Weyburn

Top Scorers: Kent Moors – 25 points in 24 games

11. Notre Dame Hounds (8-19-1-2) +1

The Hounds showed signs of improvement in November but stumbled a bit in December winning only once in five games. 20 year olds Marko Djordjevic and Spencer Borsos may be on top of the list for teams looking to acquire some experience for a championship push, but will they be moved?

Up next: Jan. 7th @ Kindersley / Jan. 8th @ Battlefords

Top Scorer: Marko Djordjevic –

12.  Nipawin Hawks  (7-20-2-2)   -1

The Hawks gave all they could handle to the defending champs including a scare where they held a two goal lead after 40 minutes. on Friday in Nipawin. This YOUNG  team continues to show signs of improvement each night.

This Week: Jan 4th @ Battlefords / Jan. 5th vs. Battlefords

Top Scorer:  Carter Anderson – 20 points in 31 games

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and we will see you back in 2025!
