Holiday Service Changes Announced by RMWB

FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) has announced several adjustments to municipal services over the holiday season to accommodate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day closures.

Waste Collection and Landfill

Curbside garbage and recycling collection will not take place on December 25, December 26, or January 1. Residents with regular Wednesday collection will have their service moved to Saturday, December 28, while Thursday pickups will shift to Sunday, December 29. For New Year’s Day, collection will occur on Saturday, January 4.

The municipal landfill and public drop-off area will be closed on December 25, December 26, and January 1. Regular operating hours, 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., will apply for the remainder of the holiday season. Additionally, the Conklin and Janvier transfer stations will be closed on December 25 and January 1.

Transit Service Adjustments

Transit Routes 11, 12, 15, and 16 will operate on a statutory holiday schedule on December 25 and 26. On Boxing Day, Route 99 will also follow the statutory holiday schedule.
