A relative of a victim of a Winnipeg serial killer says she’s still in shock after potential human remains were discovered at a landfill north of the city.

Police believe the remains of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran were taken to the Prairie Green Landfill in May 2022, and searchers have been combing the site since December.

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew announced Wednesday that possible remains had been found and identification efforts were underway.

Melissa Robinson, a cousin of Harris, says today is a heavy and very emotional day.

Jeremy Skibicki was convicted last year of murdering Harris, Myran and two other Indigenous women.

Grand Chief Kyra Wilson of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs says work must continue to address the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women.
