Fort McMurray Taxi Driver Charged with Drug Trafficking
FORT MCMURRAY, AB. – A 48-year-old Fort McMurray man is facing a drug trafficking charge after police allege he used his job as a taxi driver to assist in a criminal enterprise.
Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested Emmanuel Alexis on February 7 during a traffic stop related to an ongoing drug investigation. Following his arrest, officers obtained and executed search warrants at two homes in the Timberlea area, where they seized 14 grams of suspected cocaine, more than $8,000 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.
Alexis is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to stand before the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on April 22.
